My name is Sebastian Nye-Schmitz. I was born in Germany and moved to the United States nearly 25 years ago. I am happily married and my wife and I have three beautiful children. I am a Certified Public Accountant and an Attorney at Law, licensed in the State of Florida.
When I was working in tax compliance as a CPA, I focused on the application of the Double Tax Treaty with German-speaking Countries. Since transitioning to controversy, I have dramatically increased my areas of practice to include all levels of controversy, including supporting of tax practitioners with insight and guidance and independent representation of clients during audits, appeals, and establish of collection alternatives. Because of my background, my areas of interest include international tax compliance, probate administration, real estate transactions, and transactional law.
One of my favorite practice areas is contract drafting. I love to analyze complex problems, finding creative solutions, and committing them to paper.
One of my strengths is that I am bilingual with significant exposure to European culture, allowing me to not only bridge the language gap with German speaking clients but also the cultural one.
I graduated Cum Laude from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2004, followed by a Master of Science Degree in Accounting & Taxation from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2005.
In 2007, I finished all the requirements for becoming a Certified Public Accountant, received my license and started my own CPA firm.
In 2009, I started attending Ave Maria School of Law and in 2010, I started working as a legal intern at a boutique tax law firm in Naples. In 2012, I graduated with a Juris Doctor degree and passed the Florida Bar Exam and promptly started working as an Associate Attorney for the same tax law firm.
In the Fall of 2013, I decided to bring my knowledge and skills to bear on problems that more closely resemble my area of interest and decided to form The Nye-Schmitz Law Firm.
